About

Musician turned instrument repairer and more

Mark Chandler started playing trumpet when he was eight, and joined NYJO when he was eleven and turned full time professional at the age of sixteen. Over the next thirty years he worked with well known artists such as Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey and Geroge Michael.

During the 80’s and 90’s he also raced vintage and classic motorcycles re-engineering engine parts from a fully equipped workshop, this led to producing high performance parts for some top classic bike racers.

With engineering experience as a base Mark moved into something he always wanted to do – instrument repair, with an understanding of what a customer requires whether it’s a service, removing a minor dent , major repair / restoration or the making of custom parts.

Having a full machine shop Mark is able to take on many addition projects, for  instance restoration of a vintage brass chandelier, a vintage Jaguar radiator grill and making specialist parts for vintage and cars and motorcycles.

Baritone Horn

This baritone came in with a number of leaks and lots of dents! The request was to make it playable again, and a quote was given with consideration to making the baritone usable for some time to come. Repairing older, well known makes of instruments can often work out cheaper than purchasing a new low priced instrument. In many cases they have a better sound and will last longer.

Tuba Dent Removal

This tuba came from another repairer who does not have the equipment to handle large brass. The request was for limited repairs by removing just the major dents for his customer. The magnetic dent removal system to remove dents from the 3rd branch without taking the instrument apart (seen below the main bow in the photos).
